About
Mixed-media Printmaking combines two or more printmaking techniques to create free, expressive and unique prints.
Maybe you’re looking to experiment with different media and techniques. Maybe you've attended a printmaking course before and want to add a new dimension to you work. Maybe you feel a bit stuck and want to play and free-up your creativity.
Mixed-media printmaking is an expressive way of bringing together intaglio and relief printmaking techniques. We’ll be using techniques including silkscreen, monoprinting, monotype, linocut, collagraph, Chine collé and stencils along with coloured papers and textural materials. We'll also explore using different media including soft pastels, oils pastels and charcoal with printmaking.
Why not bring old plates and prints, paintings and drawings, images and photocopies as a starting point? They can be re-purposed, cut up, transferred, overlayed or used as collaged elements and included in a fresh series of prints.
The facilitators, Marett and Vicky are artist printmakers who enjoy encouraging creativity. They can help you think through the approach, techniques and steps that suit your print/image/idea to help you create some interesting and unique mixed-media prints to take home with you.
Each week we'll explore different techniques, working towards combining these to create a series of prints.
