Linocut 4 Week Evening Course

In this 4 week evening course, you wil be introduced to this popular technique, and be able to design, carve and print your own linocuts.

Course Dates: 23rd October, 30th October, 6th November, 13th November

Linocut is a type of relief printmaking which involves carving into a linoleum plate using sharp tools. The ink is printed from the remaining surface of the plate, and the areas that are carved away remain the colour of your paper. 

The course will consist of:

• Week 1 - getting familiar with the tools and techniques, and planning your design

• Week 2 - completing your design and cutting the lino

• Week 3 - printing your lino plate

• Week 4 - exploring multicoloured / multimedia printing and chine collé

Your tutors

Claudia Long & Claire Waller are members of Printshare and have set up the gallery and studio alongside 4 other local artists. They are both experienced in designing and creating linocuts and have taught linocut workshops on several previous occasions.

Extra info

• 6 places per workshop (please let us kow if you can no longer attend so we can offer your place to someone else)

• Materials and refreshments will be provided.

• Concessions available upon request for students and people on a low income.

• An apron or old clothes you don’t mind getting ink on

• A packed lunch (for full day workshops)
