About the Event
Drypoint is an intaglio technique where a plate is incised using needle tools to create a soft velvety line and wire wool or sandpaper for tone. Similar to drawing it can be immediate and expressive. Using transparent drypoint plastic you’ll learn how to create a plate, ink and wipe the plate, pre-dampen paper and use the press to create a series of prints. You can draw and make marks freely or transfer a drawing or photograph. The wiping technique can be used in a painterly way and multiple colours can be used. Please bring images with you as inspiration or to transfer.
Please bring:
- An apron or old clothes you don’t mind getting ink on
- A packed lunch
- Something to inspire you
- Your creativity!
Materials and refreshments will be provided.
The leaders of each workshop may ask you to prepare something ahead of the workshop, so please check your email!
